Mattia Balsamini interpreta il Clay

On the occasion of its tenth anniversary, Desalto commissioned Matteo Balsamini for a new visual interpretation of Clay. His approach is essential, transforming photography into a contemplative experience.

For Balsamini, Clay is not an object to be illuminated: it is a volume to be listened to. His method is meditative, stripped to the essentials. No superfluity, no visual rhetoric; only the encounter between a pure form and an eye capable of subtraction. In his images, Clay appears suspended: the geometry interacts with the void, the profile follows a slow and measured rhythm. The photographs create an environment where the table can exist without being explained.

The metallic top of the table, the protagonist of the limited edition, resonates with light as if it were a living surface. Balsamini uses light not to illuminate, but to reveal. Every reflection becomes a trace, every vibration a detail conveying the material density of the design. The table never appears static: it seems to breathe in the light, assuming new shapes and depths. Photography thus becomes an exercise in perception, where Clay reveals its sculptural nature with even greater intensity.

The result is not a simple photoshoot, but a visual narrative that exists in the space between what is shown and what is suggested. The images do not describe the object; they brush it, hint at it, evoke it. In this space of quiet and suspension, the limited edition finds its most intimate character: not merely a celebratory product, but a presence that invites contemplation. A vision that transforms Clay into an almost meditative gesture, amplifying its essence.
